Record of Decision
UDOT released the Record of Decision (ROD) for the Little Cottonwood Canyon EIS on July 12, 2023. The ROD is the final step in the EIS process and selects Gondola Alternative B, with phased implementation of Enhanced Bus Service Alternative components, to improve transportation in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
Final EIS
Summer 2022 to Spring 2023
UDOT released the Final EIS and 14,000 public comments received during the Draft EIS comment periods on Aug. 31, 2022. Gondola Alternative B with proposed phasing was identified as the preferred alternative in the Final EIS. A 45-day public review and comment period was open from Sept. 2 to Oct. 17, 2022.
UDOT made the public comments received during the Final EIS comment period available for public review on Nov. 7, 2022.
Draft EIS
Summer 2021 to Spring 2022
UDOT released the Draft EIS on June 25, 2021. The release of the Draft EIS was followed by a 70-day public comment period that ended on Sept. 3, 2021.
UDOT released a Revised Draft EIS Chapter 26 – Section 4(f) and 6(f) Evaluation, on Dec. 10, 2021. The release of the revised chapter was followed by a 30-day public comment period that ended on Jan. 10, 2022.

Alternatives Development and Refinement
Summer 2020 to Spring 2021
UDOT released the Draft Alternatives Screening Report on June 8, 2020 and held a public comment period from June 8 to July 10, 2020. Public meetings were held on June 22-24, 2020, both virtually and in-person.
UDOT released an addendum to the June 8, 2020 Draft Alternatives Development and Screening Report on Nov. 20, 2020 and identified two new alternatives.
Draft Purpose & Need and Alternative Screening Criteria
Summer 2019 to Spring 2020
UDOT released a draft of the Alternatives Screening Methodology Report for public review on March 11, 2019 and held a comment period from March 5, 2019, through June 14, 2019.
Based on comments received on the March 11, 2019, Alternatives Screening Methodology Report and the revised scope of the project on May 15, 2019, UDOT revised the Alternatives Screening Methodology Report. A public comment period was held from November 4 to December 13, 2019.

Revised Public Scoping
Spring 2019
UDOT revised the project scope on March 5, 2019 and again on May 15, 2019. A public open house was held on April 9, 2019 at the Cottonwood Heights City offices and a scoping comment period was open from March 5, 2019, through June 14, 2019.

Spring 2018
UDOT held a public scoping open house on April 10, 2018, at the Cottonwood Heights City offices to gather public input about items to consider in the environmental study. A public comment period was open from March 9 to May 4, 2018.
